The Lucas Center is home of The Harold V. Lucas, Jr. Foundation, "The Home of Harold V. Lucas, Sr." Florida Historical Marker, and the Lucas Historical Memorabilia Collection! The Lucas Center is located at 718 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114 and is open Tuesday - Thursday from 1pm to 5pm.
LUCAS HISTORICAL MEMORABILIA COLLECTION
Mr. Lucas has collected a great number of historical pictures and documents pertinent to the Daytona Beach area, Bethune-Cookman College, and the Lucas family. Some of which date back to the late 1800s, including letters from Dr. Bethune. This memorabilia is now on displayed at The Lucas Center.

The land where The Lucas Center now stands is where Harold V. Lucas, Sr.'s home stood for over 80 years. On Thursday, May 20, 2021 Lucas, Sr.'s former home site was approved by the Florida Historical Marker Council to receive a Historical Marker!
Mr. Harold V. Lucas, Sr. was an educator and entrepreneur. Lucas, Sr. served in administrative and faculty capacities at Bethune-Cookman College for nearly 40 years. He was the first male teacher and he founded the school's business department. In addition to his work at Bethune, Lucas, Sr. operated businesses and private classes from his home.

The core values of education and service to others were instilled in Harold V. Lucas, Jr. by his father, Harold Sr. In an effort to continue that legacy perpetually, Lucas Jr. formed the Harold V. Lucas, Jr. Foundation on June 8, 2020.
The mission of The Harold V. Lucas, Jr. Foundation is to enhance the historical and cultural advancement of the Daytona Beach Midtown community while continuing the legacy of education, athletics, service, leadership, and philanthropy of Harold V. Lucas, Jr. with a commitment to honor the past and contribute to the future.
