By proclamation of the City of Daytona Beach, February 19, 2022 is Harold V. Lucas, Sr. Day!

In recognition of Harold V. Lucas Sr.’s contributions to the city, The City of Daytona Beach designated February 19, 2022, as Harold V. Lucas, Sr. Day! The proclamation was presented in front of a large gathering of the Lucas family, friends, and community members during the Foundation’s 2nd Annual Black History Celebration and The Home of Harold V. Lucas, Sr. Historical Marker Reveal. Lucas Sr. was the first male faculty member at Bethune-Cookman College, he started the business department there, and he owned the first Black printing company in Daytona Beach.
